Rice Straw Wattles
Rice straw wattles are fiber rolls used for erosion and storm water runoff control.

These erosion control products are tubes filled with straw, held together by photodegradable plastic or biodegradable burlap netting. Each fiber roll is 9" in diameter and 25' long, weighing approximately 40 lbs. Instead of concetrating the flow and volume like drainage swales, rice straw wattles capture sediment and spread water. Each wattle contains natural straw. When left in place, the wattles provide slope erosion protection. After decomposition, they become part of the landscape.

Rice straw wattles are designed to stabilize slopes and prevent erosion by shortening the creep and breaking up the formation of rills and gullies. Rice straw wattles have been proven to keep our fresh water system free of pollution.

Since rice straw wattles have a low profile, they blend into the environment, protecting it for up to two years. Rice straw wattles can also be made in different lengths upon request.

Coir Log

The function of the coir logs is very similar to rice straw wattles except they are used in the most severe erosion control problems like in steep slopes and high velocity flow channels. Most coir logs can last for up to eight years, fully allowing vegetation to establish.

Coir logs are made of natural coconut fiber and are biodegradable. They can absorb liquid up to four times their weight.
